Class 8 English Tense

In English there are three major types of tenses. Namely-

  1. Present Tense
  2. Past Tense
  3. Future Tense

Each major type tense can be further classified into four sub categories.

The four sub categories of Present Tense are –

  1. Present Indefinite Tense – I eat rice.
  2. Present Continuous Tense – I am eating rice.
  3. Present Perfect Tense – I have eaten rice.
  4. Present Perfect Continuous Tense – I have been eating rice.

  2. Past Continuous Tense – I was eating rice.
  3. Past Perfect Tense – I had eaten rice.

  1. Future Indefinite Tense – I will eat rice.
  2. Future Continuous Tense – I will be eating rice.
  3. Future Perfect Tense – I shall have eaten rice.
  4. Future Perfect Continuous Tense – I shall have been eating rice.
